1. The definition of metallic materials

Metallic materials are materials with some properties. They often have lustre, ductility, easy conductivity and heat transfer. They are generally divided into two types: ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Ferrous metals include iron, chromium, manganese and other metals. Metallic materials are usually divided into ferrous, non-ferrous and special metallic materials.

① Ferrous metals, also known as iron and steel materials, include industrial pure iron with a total impurity content of less than 0.2% and a carbon content of no more than 0.0218%, steel containing 0.0218% to 2.11% carbon, and cast iron containing more than 2.11% carbon. 3. Special properties of metallic materials

(1) Fatigue

Many mechanical parts and engineering components are subjected to alternating loads. (2) Plasticity

(4) Hardness

Hardness indicates the ability of a material to resist the pressure of a hard object into its surface. It is one of the important performance indicators of metal materials. Generally, the higher the hardness, the better the abrasion resistance.

4. Specific properties of metallic materials

(1) Mechanical property

The mechanical property of metal refers to the ability of metals to resist deformation and fracture when subjected to external forces under certain temperature conditions, it includes strength, plasticity, hardness, fatigue, impact toughness.

(2) Chemical property

The chemical property of metals refers to the property of metals that cause chemical reactions with other substances. In practical applications, the main consideration is the corrosion resistance of metals, oxidation resistance, as well as the influence of compound that is formed by the reaction of different metals, metals and nonmetals. Among the chemical properties of metals, corrosion resistance is of great significance to metals.
